A common opinion among Coloradans is that the Reproductive Health Equity Act, along with the upcoming Initiative 89 (which will be voted on in the November general election), is simply the state of Colorado implementing Roe v. Wade at the state level.
But that is not the case. These Colorado laws will push Colorado well beyond what was present with Roe v. Wade. Dr Tom Perille and Frances Rossi provide the details in a Denver Post guest commentary.
In particular, these laws will remove restrictions on the public funding of abortion and also make it impossible for the legislature to enact any restrictions at all on abortion, such as for sex selection or fetal anesthesia. Such restrictions were possible under Roe.
I encourage you to read the guest commentary and then spread the word. It is critical that all Coloradans know what they are voting on when they fill out their ballot for the November general election.
