SUMMARY:First Friday Fast and Pray
DESCRIPTION:FIRST FRIDAY FAST AND PRAY – This is an invitation to all people of prayer in the state of Colorado. As the Lord reminds us in Matthew 17 ‘This kind goes out only by prayer and fasting’. We believe the evil of abortion is of this kind.\n\n\n\n\nWHO – YOU! If you are a person of prayer\, or even if you’ve never prayed before\, please join us.\n\n\n\n\nWHEN – The first Friday of EVERY SINGLE MONTH – beginning August 1st\, 2025.\n\n\n\n\n\nFAST – A fast is a sacrifice. It’s an intentional instance of self-denial. Fasting can be giving up something like a favorite food or drink\, or a favorite activity. It can also be something like choosing a cold shower over a hot one\, or sleeping without a pillow. It can be choosing to only consume bread and water for the day\, or eating nothing at all.\nPRAY – In this initiative\, we are asking participants to pray for the closure of all abortion facilities in the state of Colorado (we believe there are currently 15). We are also praying in general for an end to abortion\, but this is harder to measure. Nonetheless\, praying for a change in the hearts and minds of all Coloradoans who currently support abortion would be a great prayer. Any kind of prayer\, whether structured or free-flowing\, is great. Check back here for suggested prayers.\nWHY – In June of 2022\, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade. In anticipation of that decision the Colorado State Assembly passed the Reproductive Health Equity Act which made abortion through all 9 months of pregnancy legal in Colorado. Subsequently\, the legislature passed additional laws aimed at attacking pro-life pregnancy centers and protecting anyone who performs abortions. In 2024 Colorado voters enshrined the so-called right to abortion in the state constitution and in 2025 the State Assembly passed a measure to use taxpayer funds to pay for abortions in publicly funded insurance plans. In 2024 alone it is estimated that nearly 25\,000 abortions took place in Colorado. Jesus tells us in Matthew 17 that some kinds of demons are not driven out except by prayer and fasting. While we cannot abandon legislative approaches to returning a culture of life to our state\, we are appealing to a higher authority. So\, we are inviting all people who pray to join us in appealing to God to end the hellish landscape of abortion in Colorado by praying and fasting on the first Friday of every month.
